Roscoe School System
The Roscoe Central School District
endows all students with a public
school education in a rural setting,
with approximately 360 students in
the entire district. Roscoe Central
School's mission is for all students
to become well-rounded individuals
with positive self images and the
aspiration to be lifelong learners.
In general,
Roscoe Central School begins with
Pre-K class that focuses on building
children's developing skills through
problem-solving and play.
Kindergarten students focus on the
alphabet. First grade students
concentrate on reading. Second grade
students learn about themselves,
families, communities, their world,
body systems, and keeping the earth
healthy. Third grade students
concentrate on the community, the
solar system, the number of bones in
the adult human body, living
organisms, and sound. Fourth grade
students learn about New York State;
science concepts that include
metamorphosis, ocean life, and
buoyancy; and prepare for the NYS
fourth grade assessments. The fifth
grade has been recently introduced
to a Middle School atmosphere
upstairs, so that the transition to
the high school is easier. The sixth
grade class is based on New York
State standards.
